The Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position at the Research Assistant Professor level in the area of Thermal/Fluid Science, including experimental measurements and computational modeling/CFD. This position supports the Nuclear Packaging Safety and Porous Media Heat Transfer labs. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research, manage multiple concurrent projects, teach graduate/undergraduate mechanical engineering courses (min of 1 credit per year), advise/supervise student projects and research, and develop research proposals in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Successful candidates will be able to develop existing research areas, collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects, successfully publish work in peer-reviewed academic journals, and secure funding for new avenues of research. This is a full-time 12-month position, and funding and extension are subject to performance and grant awards.

Tufts Mechanical Engineering is looking for a tenure-track faculty in design, with a focus on controls/robotics. The candidate would work in two of four core disciplines (design & controls/robotics) & will be teaching undergraduate & graduate courses in both areas (e.g., courses in design methodology, machine design, controls, & robotics). Research areas may include product design, human factors, and/or robotics, including soft robotics.

The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching as well as the potential to develop an internationally recognized research program. While a doctorate is required, industrial experience is desirable. All candidates must have extensive knowledge in the design process & should have demonstrable experiences & expertise in design & controls/robotics (submission of an electronic portfolio of design work is encouraged). Linnemeier Guidant Foundation Chair in Biomedical Engineering. This position is intended for candidates who are dedicated to the advancement of undergraduate and graduate education, have a distinguished record of research and professional accomplishment, and have strong leadership and management abilities.

The incumbent’s research would have a primary application in an established area of biomedical engineering such as biomaterials, biomechanics, or bioinstrumentation. Other areas in BME will be considered. Besides leading and managing the department, the successful candidate will be expected to establish a state-of-the-art research program in collaboration with the Indiana University School of Medicine, also on the IUPUI campus.
